This breakthrough expands Pangang’s high-end product portfolio and reinforces its competitive edge in the global specialty metals market.
Titanium sheets are critical to high-tech industries such as aerospace (e.g., aircraft components), medical devices (surgical implants), and chemical processing equipment. Historically, China’s ultra-thin titanium sheets relied heavily on imports or limited domestic suppliers. Pangang’s R&D team, in collaboration with its research institute, addressed this gap by pioneering a high-reduction rolling process to thin titanium strip coils while ensuring structural integrity.
Technical Advancements:
Optimized rolling parameters reduced strip thickness to 0.5mm with precise dimensional tolerances (±0.02mm).
Enhanced surface quality and reduced defect rates through advanced rolling lubrication and tension control.
Streamlined production to achieve finished sheets in just two rolling passes, cutting energy consumption by 15% versus traditional methods.
The newly stabilized process has already entered mass production, with initial batches undergoing rigorous testing for aerospace clients.
